VanGuilder Threes Lead MCC to Easy Win

MANCHESTER – Rebeca Van Guilder (Hartford) hit seven three-pointers to lead Manchester CC (16-1) to a 101-26 victory over New Hampshire Technical Institute (12-9) Sunday afternoon in a non-league contest.

VanGuilder was 7 for 8 from outside the arc and finished the day with a game-high 21 points, which is a career high for the former Prince Tech All-State selection.

Callie Tambling (Manchester) had 19 points, including five three-point baskets while Ericka Sagay (Bloomfield) had 18 points and seven steals. Elise Chase (Vernon) contributed 12 points and 13 rebounds to MCC’s fifth straight victory.

VanGuilder added four assists and three steals to her best game at MCC while East Hartford’s Jazlynn Canino (12 points, 12 rebounds) played another solid game at both ends of the court.

MCC shot 52% from the field (39 for 75) and 73% from the free-throw line. The Cougars host Lincoln College Tuesday (Jan 25) at 6pm; Dean College Saturday (Jan 29) at 1Pm and Bristol CC Sunday (Jan 30) at 1PM.
