Sagay Hits 20 Rebound Mark for Third Straight Game

MANCHESTER – Ericka Sagay (Bloomfield) had 34 points and 21 rebounds as Manchester Community College (14-1) beat CÉGEP de Trois Rivières (Quebec) 97-42 Saturday afternoon at Great Path Academy gym.

It was the third straight 20-plus rebound game for the 6’2” Sagay who is averaging 17 points and 12.3 rebounds through 15 games. The sophomore had 20 rebounds in a road victory over Quinsigamond CC Tuesday night and helped the Cougars beat a very tough Navy Prep team at home on Thursday with 28 rebounds and 21 points.

Callie Tambling (Manchester) had 21 points, including five three-pointers, and pulled down 10 rebounds while Shenielle Duncan-Clarke (Bloomfield) had a triple-double with 13 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists. Elise Chase (Vernon) had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Duncan-Clarke also had seven steals.

Audry-Eve Hamel led the Diablos (1-9) with 19 points.

MCC trailed 7-6 early in the game before a putting together a 19-0 run over a seven minute span midway through the first half. The Cougars, who won their third straight game, led 48-17 at the half.
