MCC Receives Bid to NJCAA Division III Region XXI Baseball Tournament

MANCHESTER, Conn. (May 11) – The Manchester Community College baseball team qualified for the four-team, double-elimination 2007 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Region XXI Baseball Tournament today through Sunday at host Massasoit Community College in Brockton, Mass.
The NJCAA Division III Region XXI Baseball Tournament begins with two games run concurrently at 3 today. Fourth-seeded MCC (15-15 overall, 10-3 NJCAA Division III Region XXI) plays top-seeded Holyoke Community College (19-17, 11-3) on the campus of Massasoit Community College. Second-seeded Massasoit Community College (29-10-1, 11-3) meets third-seeded Northern Essex Community College (17-13, 11-3) at Edgar Playground in Brockton.
The 2007 NJCAA Division III Region XXI Baseball Tournament participants and first-round games are identical to the 2006 tournament.
The tournament seeds were announced after the NJCAA Region XXI Baseball Committee meeting Tuesday night.
The tournament continues Saturday with two games played simultaneously at 11 a.m. The Holyoke Community College-MCC winner will meet the Massasoit Community College-Northern Essex Community College winner at Massasoit Community College. The Holyoke Community College-MCC loser will play the Massasoit Community College-Northern Essex Community College loser at Edgar Playground.
The 3 p.m. game Saturday and the championship round Sunday (11 a.m., 3 p.m. if necessary) will be played at Massasoit Community College.
The NJCAA Division III Region XXI champion advances to the 2007 NJCAA Division III Baseball Championship May 19-25 in Tyler, Texas.
Sophomore right fielder Jason Banks (STAFFORD SPRINGS) leads MCC with a .400 batting average, .470 on-base percentage, 40 hits, 27 runs and 24 RBIs. Sophomore right-hander Nick Jones (EAST WINDSOR) has a 6-0 record with 0.36 earned-run average and 56 strikeouts in 50 1/3 innings.
Manchester Community College is 1-1 against Massasoit Community College, Northern Essex Community College and Holyoke Community College in 2007.

Continue straight on Pleasant St. for 2 miles and take a right onto Warren Ave. Follow Warren Ave. for 1 mile and take a right onto Winthrop St. The field is ½ mile on the left.

Exit the parking lot and take a right onto Marciano Way. Take a right onto Winthrop St. At the end of Winthrop is Main St. Take a left onto Main St. and a quick right onto Lawrence St. Take a left onto Grove St. and at the lights take a right onto East St. From East St., take a left onto Pine St. and at the fork, bear right onto Thatcher St. The college is ¾ of a mile on the left.
