MCC, Eastern JV Split Double Header Saturday; Cougars Rained Out Sunday

MANCHESTER – (May 3, 2008) MCC and Eastern Connecticut’s JV split a pair of games Saturday afternoon in Manchester. Liam Ohlmann (Wallingford) improved to 6-1 on the season with eight strikeouts in a 7-2 MCC victory in game one and former East Catholic pitcher Bill Roveto allowed one run over five innings as Eastern took the second game 12-1.

93 mph Saturday in a 7-2 win over Eastern Connecticut’s
JV team Saturday afternoon at McCormick. Ohlmann
struck out eight batters over six innings and improved
to 6-1 on the season.

MCC’s Kevin Clements (Vernon) hit the afternoon’s lone home run, his third of the season. Clements was 4 for 8 on the day with three RBI. Bolton’s Peter Burgio had a two-run single in the first game. Aaron Guilbeault (Lebanon) ha a hit in each game and scored three runs, including the Cougar’s lone run in game two.

MCC had a pair of Sunday games in Rindge, NH against Franklin Pierce College’s JV rained out. The Cougars will host the NJCAA Region XXI, Division III Tournament from May 9-11. Games will begin at 2pm at McCormick Complex on MCC’s campus and at Northwest Park. Pairings and participants will be determined Tuesday evening. The winner will move on to the NJCAA Division III World Series in Tyler Texas from May 17 – 23.

MCC finished the regular season with a 26-10-2 record. The 26 wins are a new school record.
