MCC can’t shake first half blues; drop 75-65 decision to Massasoit
BROCKTON, MA – Freshman Jessica Millis led Massasoit CC with 16 points, helping to snap Manchester Community College’s six-game win streak with a 75-65 victory in Brockton, MA Saturday afternoon.
MCC (17-3) fell behind 39-25 after the first twenty minutes but closed the gap to six points with six minutes to play, thanks in part to Callie Tambling’s (Manchester) four three-point field goals in the second half. Erika Murphy (Torrington) had 16 points and Tambling finished with 14 for the Cougars who had a 40-36 edge in the second half.
Jill Coyle had 15 points for Massasoit (9-6), who had five players with 10 or more points. Manchester took the first meeting between the two teams by a 57-53 score on November 21st in Manchester.
The Cougars will travel to Groton on Wednesday for a rematch with UConn-Avery Point and return home to host Globe Institute on Saturday at 3PM. Prior to the Holyoke game, the MCC Athletic Department will host a charity game with the MCC Alumni squaring off against faculty and staff starting at 1 PM.
