MCC Alumni Association to Hold Resume Writing Workshop
Manchester, Conn. (February 27, 2017) – Manchester Community College Alumni Association will sponsor a Resume Writing workshop open to MCC alumni in preparation for career advancements of all kinds, and the event is free for all alumni who wish to attend.
The workshop will be held Thursday, March 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. in room A142, first floor of the Raymond F. Damato Building, Learning Resource Center. Pre-registration is required to attend the workshop, but seats are limited. Call 860-512-2909 or email alumni@manchestercc.edu to reserve a seat.
This informative workshop will provide tips and recommendations regarding the skills and strategies needed to develop an effective resume. It will serve as an opportunity for MCC alumni to gather information and learn about current résumé styles, formats, and structural layouts, common resume writing mistakes, and overall tips for creating an effective marketing tool that resonates well with employers.
“The workshop also serves as a great opportunity for individuals to learn something new and/or have an existing approach validated. The goal of the workshop is to support MCC alumni who are looking for their next career opportunity,” according to Julie Greene, director of career and veteran’s services.
Participants will leave with a raised awareness regarding resume writing techniques and the ability to assess whether their own document needs a “facelift.”
This will not be a working session, but participants are invited to make changes to their resumes based on what they learn at the session and send it to Julie Greene at jgreene@manchestercc.edu for an online review and constructive feedback before the Regional Job Fair, which will be held on Friday, March 31, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Great Path Academy gymnasium..
