Holyoke scores 10 in the fourth in Region 21 Win over MCC

HOLYOKE, MA – (April 17, 2009) Holyoke CC scored ten runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and took a Region 21, Division III game from MCC by an 11-4 score in Holyoke.

Holyoke erased a 1-0 lead with a pair of homeruns in their destructive inning and took a 10-1 lead after six innings. A. J. Lowers (Newington) drove in three runs with a one-out, bases loaded double in the top of the seventh to cut the Cougars of Holyoke lead to 10-4. Nick Melino (Cromwell) scored the first MCC run on a wild pitch after stealing third base in the second.

Starting pitcher Shane Dufrense and reliever Nicolas Zaytran each homered in the fourth for Holyoke (2-7-1).

MCC (11-12-1) has lost four straight and will play a pair of Region 21, Division III double headers on the road this weekend, traveling to Brockton, MA on Saturday to play Massasoit CC and Boston on Sunday to play Bunker Hill. After Friday’s loss, MCC’s Region 21, Division III record stands at 2-2.
