Haley Cole Scores 20, but Cougars Fall to #3 Roxbury

MANCHESTER, CT – Haley Cole (Hebron) led all scorers with 20 points, but #3 Roxbury CC (14-1) left with a 102-23 victory over Manchester CC Saturday afternoon in a Region 21, Division III game at the Great Path Academy gym.
Brittany Allen and Shannon Samuels had 18 points each while former Manchester High star Miofania Garcia checked in with eight points for Roxbury. Arianna Rivera (Manchester) had nine points for MCC (4-9).
A Garcia basket five minutes into the contest gave Roxbury a 5-4 lead and started a 20-0 run that helped give her team to a 51-15 halftime advantage. Five Roxbury players – Allen, Samuels, Chreese Hall (17), Patrice Miranda (17) and Khea Gibbs (11) scored in double-digits. Roxbury, ranked third in the latest NJCAA Division III poll, made ten 3-point baskets and converted 10 of 23 from the free-throw line.
MCC’s next two games are on the road at Massasoit CC next satruday (February 2) and at UConn-Avery point on Wednesday February 6.
