Duncan-Clarke and Sagay Lead The Way To Eighth Straight Win
MANCHESTER – Manchester Community College extended its winning streak to eight games with 75-47 victory over previously unbeaten Quinsigamond CC (9-1) Thursday night at the Great Path Academy gym.
Ericka Sagay (Bloomfied) led the way for MCC (8-0) with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Shenielle Duncan-Clarke (Bloomfield) had the triple-double with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. “Shorty” also found time for eight steals.
“We had a really good run,” MCC head coach Robert Turner Jr. said. “We played really good defense and executed on offense. They (The Cougars) played almost a perfect first half and I think that is tough for any team to deal with.”
Callie Tambling (Manchester) had 17 points including three, three-point baskets for MCC who led by a 46-17 margin at halftime. Trafficia Warburton had 20 points for Quinsigamond.
Tyra Brooks (Waterbury) sparked MCC’s early run with three early baskets as her team built a 21-1 lead in the first ten minutes.
“Tyra had a great game,” Turner said of Brooks. “She played well on defense and offense and she contributed in a major way.”
MCC will host Northern Essex CC Saturday at 1 PM and UConn-Avery Point Monday (Dec 6) at 6 PM.
