Cougars Return From Splitsville 10-10 With Region 21 Play Set To Begin Monday
TRENTON, NJ – Kevin Madera (Newington) pitched a three-hit shutout as Manchester CC (10-10) beat Mercer County CC 8-0 in the second game of a double header Sunday afternoon in Trenton N.J. Mercer County (6-7) won the first game 11-7. Madera is now 4-0 on the season.
On Saturday, MCC split a double header with Brookdale CC, winning game 4-3 and dropping the second 6-2. Tyler Wenz (Ogdensburg, NJ) pitched five strong inning with seven strikeouts in the first game, but left without a decision.
“If we were on, we could have won all four games,” MCC head coach Chris Strahowski said from the road at the tail end of the team’s lone overnight trip of the regular season.
Joey Allison (East Hartford) was 3 for 4 including a game winning RBI single in the top of the seventh and Mike Methot (Bristol) threw a scoreless inning for the save in Saturday’s 4-3 win over Brookdale CC (9-5) in Lincroft, NJ.
MCC is scheduled to host Quinsigamond CC in its first Region 21, Division III game on Monday (March 29) at 3:30.
