Amat and Estok Score as the MCC Women Win 13th Game

MANCHESTER, CT – Christine Amat (Glastonbury) scored in the first half and Lindsay Estok (Middletown) scored in the second as MCC beat CC of Baltimore County – Essex 2-0 Saturday afternoon in Manchester. Nicole Morehouse (Tolland) made four saves while recording her second consecutive shutout and sixth of the season.
“We were solid in the back Julia (Connor), Angeline (Chiang), Nicky (Morehouse) and that’s always very important,” MCC Head Coach Alex Calpa said. “We were a little sloppy up top and probably could have scored a couple more goals.”
MCC is 13-2 on the season while CCBC-Essex drops to 2-9.
The Cougars, who are unbeaten at home on the season over six games, took 13 shots on goal on their NJCAA Region 20 opponent. Amat scored Manchester’s first and game winning goal for the second straight game and has four on the season in nine games. Amat scored MCC’s lone goal in its 1-0 victory over Holyoke on Wednesday. Julia Connor (Ellington) had the game’s lone assist.
“I was very impressed with their club,” Calpa said of the scrappy visiting team who brought just 10 players for its two-day New England swing. CCBC-Essex travels to Rhode Island for a Sunday date with CC of Rhode Island. “They were very skill full, a lot of heart, worked hard and gave us a good game.”
