Duncan-Clarke Breaks Own Record in 104-33 Win
MANCHESTER – Shenielle Duncan-Clarke (Bloomfield) set a school record with 25 assists as Manchester CC beat Bunker Hill CC 104-33 for its fourth straight victory Saturday afternoon at the Great Path Academy gym.
Callie Tambling (Manchester) had 27 points including six from three-point range and Ericka Sagay (Bloomfield) had 24 points and 18 rebounds. Kasiana Goodman (Waterbury) checked in with a career high 20 points for MCC (15-1).
Teresa Pina led Bunker Hill (7-6) with 19 points.
Duncan-Clarke, who leads all NJCAA Division III players with 10 assists per game, shattered her own record of 21 set on January 23, 2010 in a 97-21 win over Bunker Hill at home.
“She is probably the only player that I have seen that influence a game by her passing,” MCC assistant coach Peter Harris said of the sophomore point guard. “She doesn’t necessarily have to score for us to win and I think we are better team when she doesn’t have to score.”
Tambling, Sagay and Goodman, who scored her first collegiate three-point basket, provided more than enough offense for the Cougars who played their first game in 14 days.
“We had a lot of open shots,” Duncan-Clarke said. “Ericka was open, Callie was open and everybody was making their shots.”
“Today she made everyone around her so much better,” Harris said added.
Jazlynn Canino (East Hartford) had 10 points and 13 rebounds while Elise Chase (Vernon), the team’s lone freshman, had eight points and seven assists. Kate Gazdzicki (Colchester) rounded out the scoring with six points and seven rebounds.
The Cougars will have less than 24 hours to rest before New Hampshire Tech visits on Sunday (January 23) for a 1PM game at Great Path.
