Cougars return from break with 86-24 win over Quinsigamond
MANCHESTER, CT – Kasiana Goodman (Waterbury) led Manchester CC with 16 points and eight rebounds in an 86-24 victory over Quinsigamond CC Tuesday night at the Great Path Academy gym.
Amanda Colon (New Britain) had a season high 14 points, including four three-pointers and Captain Erika Murphy (Torrington) added 12 points for MCC (11-1). Felicia Givens led Quinsigamond (3-11) with 11 points.
The Cougars had not played since a December 22nd loss to Roxbury CC in Boston, their only loss of the season, but dominated the Lady Chiefs in their first game in 14 days. MCC took control with a 21-4 run late in the first half and completely shut down Quinsigamond in the second half by a 44-10 margin.
“Amanda Colon really stepped up and played big,” MCC head coach Robert Turner, Jr. said. “And Ruby (Rebeca Van Guilder/Hartford) played really well, running the plays and controlling the floor.”
Van Guilder had six assists and a three-pointer while Kate Gazdzicki (Colchester) and Callie Tambling (Manchester) had eight rebounds apiece.
“We were really controlled, really disciplined and overall, everybody played really well,” Turner added.
