Liam Ohlmann Pitches a Two-Hit Shutout in Cougars’ 8-0 Win Over Quinsigamond CC

MANCHESTER, Conn. (April 9) – Freshman right-hander Liam Ohlmann (WALLINGFORD) pitched a two-hit shutout as the Manchester Community College baseball team defeated Quinsigamond Community College 8-0 in a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Region XXI game Monday afternoon at McCormick Field.

The Cougars (7-5 overall, 4-1 NJCAA Division III Region XXI) are 6-1 against NJCAA Division III competition.

MCC sophomore left fielder Andy Sauer (WILLINGTON) went 3-for-4 with two runs and two stolen bases and freshman third baseman Jeff Raymond (HEBRON) went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a stolen base.

Ohlmann (2-3) struck out seven and walked one in seven innings.

MCC increased its lead to 8-0 with a three-run seventh. Freshman Bryan Hager (BURLINGTON) and Raymond each recorded RBI singles in the inning.

Shane Coakley (0-1) allowed five runs (two earned), seven hits and two walks in five innings for Quinsigamond CC (0-7).

Manchester Community College hosts Eastern Connecticut State University JV in a 3:30 p.m. game Thursday at McCormick Field.
