Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree required, in an appropriately-related field with at least one year of experience in retention, advising and/or counseling.
- Understanding of academic support services, campus-wide support services, tutoring, academic advising, transfer counseling and/or personal and career services.
- Knowledge of campus-wide support services.
- Demonstrated understanding of the unique needs of learners.
- Outstanding written and oral communications, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Dean or an Advising and Counseling administrator, the Academic Advising Assistant will work with a diverse student population in developing and realizing their academic goals. The assistant will meet with students for course selection, degree evaluations, academic concerns, as well as provide referrals to specific institutional resources as necessary.
- Degree evaluations and graduation audits
- Present and participate in advising workshops
- Meet with students on academic probation
- Educate students regarding support services on-campus
- Participate in staff meetings
- Serve as an Academic Coach
- Other duties as assigned
In addition to the responsibilities listed above, the Academic Advising Assistant is required to carry out the essential duties of attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies when required; service on assigned committees and task forces; and attendance and participation in committee, staff, informational and professional meetings. All of these may involve attendance at evening or weekend events.
Minimum Salary/Compensation
$30.47/hour; 16 hours a week
Candidates must be flexible as hours must be within 8:30 a.m.–7:00 p.m., Mon – Thurs, with one Saturday a month.
