Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in computer science required. Four years' college-level teaching experience in the relevant subject matter. The candidate must possess a demonstrated ability to teach introductory and advanced computer science courses in the following areas: Java and/or other high level languages such as C++/C#/Python, Database Theory, Data Structures & Algorithms, Organization and Architecture, Assembly Language and Discrete Math. Additional experience in internet technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, MySQL, and web frameworks is a plus. Applicant should have a demonstrated ability to design, create and deliver custom teaching materials. Applicant should be able to work with IT tech support in the design of computer-based teaching environments. Candidate must be able to provide guidance to students who are either planning to transfer to a four-year college or are planning to enter the workforce upon graduating with an associate degree. Core skills required include: excellent oral and written communication skills; demonstrated involvement in support of diversity; ability to work with multiple constituencies and experience with technology as a teaching tool. An understanding of the mission of the community college is essential. Applicants who do not meet the minimum qualifications as stated must put in writing precisely how their experience has prepared them for the responsibilities of this position and to provide appropriate references.

Responsibilities

Teach lecture and computer-based courses as needed. Coordinate with IT tech support staff in the design of computer-based teaching environments. Develop, revise, implement and evaluate curriculum. Assess student performance and the computer science curriculum. Recruit, advise and mentor students. Serve on departmental, division and college-wide committees. Perform other duties and responsibilities as related to a full-time tenure-track faculty position in the community college system.

Minimum Salary/Compensation

$56,298 approximate annual
