FIRST Scholars Learning Communities

Learn | Grow | Network | Thrive | Achieve

Join an MCC learning community – academic exploration elevated!

Are you an entry year, full-time student age 17 to 21 and looking to connect with students, faculty and staff who share the same passion for an academic subject or career interest as you do? FIRST Scholars Learning Communities (FSLC) provide you with a unique opportunity to succeed from the start in a friendly, supportive and intellectually stimulating community. As a FIRST Scholar you will participate in exclusive events, a special FSLC Student Orientation, take your classes together and build tight-knit connections with faculty and staff through community involvement. FSLCs have been formed in the following areas:

  • Business and Entrepreneurship
  • Criminal Justice
  • Health Careers
  • Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts

Our learning communities combine devoted senior faculty, innovative teaching and learning methods, dedicated advisors and program coordinators, and unparalleled resources to support you in your studies. Through active participation in a learning community, you will gain a greater sense of community while on campus, increase your social and academic networks, have access to faculty mentorship, and increase the likelihood of graduating at the pace you set with the GPA you desire.

Note: The FIRST Scholars Learning Communities program is funded by the U.S. Department of Education Student Support Services grant and an MCC Foundation grant.
