Geology is the study of the earth – its origin, history and structure. At MCC, geology courses may be used to satisfy a student’s general education knowledge areas in science.
A career as geologist generally requires an advanced degree. Employment can be found in environmental consulting companies, government agencies, petroleum and mining companies, and higher education.
Students who are interested in geology will often transfer into a bachelor’s degree program to continue their studies. Students who are thinking of transferring are encouraged to meet with their academic advisors to discuss their plans and how MCC courses transfer to other institutions. More information on the transfer services options available at MCC can be found in the Transfer Services portion of the web site.
