Drawing with Various Media for All Levels
Begin with charcoal drawings of simple shapes, then achieve more complex statements with emphasis on composition using varied values to define 3-D form. Explore color theory in drawing still-life subjects using pastels. Please bring to class: a Strathmore 18″ x 22″ pad, ebony pencil, #2 pencil, kneaded eraser, Generals Compressed Charcoal (3 different degrees of hardness), Windsor & Newton soft vine charcoal (3 sticks), Alpha Color pastels, and a pad of pastel paper.

Introduction to Oil Pastels
Explore the various possibilities and master the flexibility of oil pastels. Learn how to blend and layer colors to achieve harmony in art. Please bring to class: a Bristol pad (approx. 14″ x 12″) and an oil pastel set, plus an extra white and black pastel.

Dynamic Discovery through Doodling
Often seen as an insignificant distraction or nervous habit, research has shown that doodling is a valid tool for accessing unconscious wisdom and improving cognitive retention. This interactive, insightful and fun workshop uses free-form doodling as a metaphor to stimulate creative thinking and expression, and recognize expanded possibilities in one’s personal and professional life. Participants should bring $5 to first class for instructor-provided materials.
