MCC Awards President’s Scholarship to 11 High School Seniors

MANCHESTER, Conn. (June 19, 2018) — Manchester Community College Foundation has announced that they have awarded 11 high school seniors with their newly instituted President’s Scholarship. The MCC President’s Scholarship is awarded to graduating seniors at participating high schools within MCC’s primary or secondary service areas. The award covers the student’s tuition and fees for the fall semester. In addition, a $300 book scholarship will be provided for each recipient at the beginning of the semester. Students must be recommended for the award by their high school counselors.

Camille Geathers, a counselor at Great Path Academy in Manchester, recommended two students – Matthew Martin and Nitzalys Diaz-Rivera, both residents of Hartford — who received awards.

“This scholarship opens doors for students who want to continue on to higher education,” Geathers said. “For example, Matthew Martin wants to continue his education in culinary arts as well as business, and this scholarship will help him achieve this goal.”
