Women Across Time
March 21, 2017
The community turned out today, March 21, to hear the well-known activist Elizabeth Horton Sheff speak on the topic, “Women Across Time,” as part of MCC’s Women’s History Month celebration. Throughout her years of community activism, Horton Sheff advocated on many civil rights fronts, including championing the rights of people who reside in public housing, those infected or affected by HIV/AIDS, families marginalized by economic challenges and grandparents raising grandchildren. She found early renown for her role as the plaintiff of the landmark Sheff vs. O’Neill civil lawsuit mandating equal access to quality, integrated public education.
