Thursday night at 6pm-Friday morning October 14th, Lucy Hurston\'s class sponsored a Cardboard City to raise awareness regarding homelessness. Students made mock homes out of cardboard and listened to speakers from Hands on Hartford. These speakers shared first hand accounts of experiencing homelessness. Also, Journey Home, Habitat for Humanity, FoodCorps and the Salvation army came and shared with students how they are helping our communities deal with homelessness. Students engaged in a hands on project of making 50 \\\"Welcome Home Kits\\\" for people moving into apartments working with Journey Home. We have received donations from students, Whole Foods and Shop-rite. Kits include toilet paper, dish detergent, shampoo, soap and paper towels. It was a great day of learning for all who participated.
