Passport to MCC
September 23, 2016
The event featured a celebration of the naming of the Raymond F. Damato library and Learning Resource Center, honoring Raymond “Sonny” Damato, who in 2014 bequeathed MCC its largest gift ever — some $6 million from his estate — which put MCC Foundation well on its way to meeting the Campaign 2020 goal. Members of the Damato family joined MCC faulty, staff and students in the Village courtyard to help dedicate the space and unveil the naming on the outside of the LRC. MCC President Gena Glickman read a letter from Former Senator Chris Dodd praising Mr. Damato\'s community service, and State Senator Steve Cassano ’68 (D-4th District) read a proclamation from the legislature. Other dedications during the evening were held for the college’s new 2100 sq. ft. manufacturing center, and the latest teaching tool for radiation therapy – a virtual environment. These facilities are key to the college’s plans to serve Connecticut businesses’ recently announced major hiring requirements in manufacturing and health careers.
