Instructions for Graduates

Due to public health concerns, this year’s commencement ceremony  – as we know it – has been cancelled. Prospective graduates and their families should watch this page for further plans and information.

Congratulations, Class of 2020!

Please mark your calendars for Tuesday, June 30, when MCC’s Class of 2020 Commencement celebration goes live. On that day,  the commencement website will launch and you will be able to view all that has been put together to showcase your achievements. There will be speeches addressing the Connecticut community college graduates from Governor Ned Lamont; the President of the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities, Mark Ojakian; and Board of Regents Chairman Matt Fleury. Our Commencement Speaker, Paula Umana, will address MCC graduates specifically; you’ll also hear from your class valedictorian. There will be a photo show with individual slides for each graduate with your name, photo and credential awarded. You will be able to download these at a later date and print as a keepsake. There will also be a mosaic photo and special words from the program heads to their graduates. While the commencement webpage launches on June 30, it will remain on the MCC website indefinitely.

Next Steps for Graduates

At the end of the week of June 15, you will receive a commencement package. There are a variety of things for you to keep and use in your photo. Take a picture of yourself. Use the confetti (notice it has seeds in it, so head outside for a picture and plant some seeds while you are at it!), wear the cap and tassel, wear the sunglasses, or just take a picture of yourself without any of these things. The MCC Alumni Association has also welcomed you and included information on ordering diploma frames and the benefits of the Association.

To have your photo displayed on the commencement webpage, you will need to upload it to two locations:

  1. You should have received, or soon will receive, an email from GradImages requesting the photo. You will upload your photo there to be used for the graduate slide show.
  2. The second upload is via Microsoft Forms. You will have to log in using your Banner ID and password. If you do not remember it, contact Samantha Plourd at You can upload your photo to

We are also offering an optional third upload option. We know that commencement is a time to celebrate with friends and family and we want to recognize that. Take a picture with friends and family on or after June 30 and we can upload it to a web gallery. This is something that will stay up on the MCC website and you can check back to see how it grows! You can see your classmates celebrate with their friends and family, as well! An email will go out on June 29 with the upload information.

Your diplomas will be mailed in July/August, which is a normal timeframe for us. This packet includes your diploma cover for you to put your diploma in once it arrives.
