At MCC, the Global Studies Department encompasses the disciplines of economics, geography, history and political science. The courses offered in these disciplines are designed to encourage students to take the world view in studying human society, its institutions, physical environments, population patterns and economic structures. These courses require students to synthesize and analyze information, thereby honing their abilities to think logically, flexibly and critically.
At MCC, the general education core curriculum is an integral part of every degree program. The Global Studies Department offers a broad range of courses from which students may choose to satisfy their general education knowledge areas.

Many students who are interested in continuing their studies in one (or more) of these disciplines will transfer to a four-year college or university to receive a bachelor’s degree. By starting their course work at MCC, they are able to take advantage of the college’s high quality instruction and more affordable tuition and fees. Students who are thinking of transferring are encouraged to meet with their academic advisors to discuss how MCC courses transfer to other institutions. More information on the transfer options available at MCC can be found in the Transfer Services portion of the web site.
