Online Classes

Classes That Cannot Be Delivered Entirely Online
In the event that one or more of your classes cannot completed online, we will reach out to you directly..

Veterans, please note: If any of your classes do get cancelled, please contact School Certifying Official  Michelle LaBelle immediately. There are recent provisions that have been set forth by the Department of Veterans Affairs due to COVID-19 that are helping vets and ensuring they get paid their housing allowance and tuition dollars with the shift to the online format.

The following information is being provided to make the transition to online classes easier for everyone. As always, if you have questions about your class, reach out to your individual instructors first, as they may have solutions based on your class’s particular needs.

Classroom instruction will be conducted through Blackboard, our online course management system on myCommNet.

Blackboard

Accessing classes online via Blackboard can be done in a few simple steps. To log in, students will need their student ID number and password. Please keep in mind that Blackboard does not work with the browser Internet Explorer.

To log into Blackboard via myCommNet, please follow these instructions:

  1. Go to  myCommNet
  2. Click the red “Log In” button.
  3. Enter your eight-digit student ID number followed by “@student.commnet.edu” in the “NetID” field (for example: 12345678@student.commnet.edu).
  4. Enter your password in the password field. Select the blue “Sign in” button.

Once you have logged into myCommNet, the link to Blackboard can be located on the right-hand side of the screen, below Banner. Clicking the Blackboard link will redirect you to the Blackboard website.

To log into Blackboard directly instead of through myCommNet:

  1. Visit ctccs.blackboard.com

  4. Enter your password in the password field. Select the blue “Sign in” button.

Once you have logged into Blackboard, you will be presented with a module list of your current and past classes. Classes that can be accessed will display as blue hyperlinks. Some past classes may be unavailable.

Watch a YouTube video about how to navigate your Blackboard courses Additionally, found at the bottom of the module of available classes, is the “Blackboard Learn Student Orientation” course. This is a helpful walk through that students may complete to familiarize themselves with Blackboard and includes videos and pictures to aid in learning.

Using the Blackboard Mobile App

Blackboard has a mobile app that can be used on your mobile or tablet device. Once downloaded, to log into the app enter “Connecticut Community Colleges System” in the school search text field. You will be prompted to log in via the web. Select the button and use your eight-digit student ID number and password to log in. You will then be prompted to agree to Blackboard’s terms of use. Once you have agreed, your course list will load.

Please visit the comprehensive guide on using the mobile Blackboard app.
